Popular Nigerian comedienne Anita Asuoha, better known as Warri Pikin, has shed more light on the reason behind the cancellation of her scheduled show in Delta State, accusing the host community of bullying and adopting a hostile approach.

In a video on her Instagram page, the entertainer, while addressing the controversy, explained that the decision was not out of pride but a response to the manner in which she was treated.

Warri Pikin revealed that her show producer was contacted by representatives of the Effurun community, who demanded that the show’s name and venue address be changed to reflect Effurun rather than Warri. She stated that while she had no issue with the correction, the aggressive approach, which included shouting, a petition, and demands for a public apology, left her with no choice but to cancel.

“If they politely asked me, we would not be here today,” she said.

The comedian also dismissed claims that she cancelled the show due to pride, stating that she simply lacked the energy to engage in a fight. She emphasised that she would rather focus her energy on other projects, including her upcoming London show at the O2 Indigo on November 29.

“Delta State, do not bully me,” she declared.
She also admitted that adding she had always called everywhere Warri and was open to being educated, but not through aggression.

“You went to the venue with violence.”
Warri Pikin also noted that she chose to cancel the show because it was clear the community did not want her presence.

“It was obvious that you didn’t really want me,” she said, explaining that she had to prioritise her peace and her family. “I have a nine-month-old baby, I have a marriage, I have children from different generations, I have a brand,” she listed, emphasising that she would rather not fight.

She further expressed her frustration at being bullied in Delta State, a place she loves deeply and has always given back to.

“I give too much in Delta State. I just want to give because I love the town,” she said. The comedian also dismissed the suggestion that she acted out of pride, insisting that her decision was purely about preserving her energy for more important commitments. “I need all my energy to push that show in London,” she explained.

Warri Pikin concluded by revealing that she will not hold any show in Delta State again, stating that she will focus her energy where she is loved and appreciated. She also addressed the attempts to shame her into submission, declaring that she would not be pressured into backing down.

“Who asked me politely? Who tried to educate me?” she asked, reiterating that the approach was what led to the cancellation.

The show, which was scheduled for September 20, was expected to feature top entertainers including Teni, Chigul, MC Royal, and others.
