A Magistrate’s Court sitting in Wuse Zone 6, Abuja, has ordered the police to investigate the senator representing Osun East, Francis Fadahunsi, over alleged comments calling for the killing of members of the Accord ahead of Saturday’s governorship election in Osun State.

The Presiding Magistrate II, Farida Ibrahim, directed the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 7, Abuja, to investigate the criminal complaint and submit a report within two weeks.

The directive was contained in a letter dated August 13, 2026, signed by the Registrar of the Magistrate’s Court, Abdulraham Yusuf.

The letter, titled “Direct Criminal Complaint Between Pelumi Olajengbesi and Senator Francis Fadahunsi,” was issued pursuant to Section 89(5) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015.

It read, “I am directed by the presiding Magistrate II, His Worship Hon. Farida Ibrahim, sitting at Magistrate Court Wuse Zone 6, F.C.T Abuja to write to your office to investigate the above-mentioned case and report back within two weeks.”

The court attached a copy of the criminal complaint to the letter and asked the police for “necessary action.”

The complaint was filed by Pelumi Olajengbesi, the campaign spokesman for Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, following alleged comments attributed to Fadahunsi in a viral video.

Olajengbesi had accused the senator of making statements that allegedly encouraged violence against members and supporters of the Accord ahead of the August 15 Osun State governorship election.

The development came as Olajengbesi on Wednesday threatened to institute a N10bn defamation and injurious falsehood suit against Fadahunsi over separate allegations made during television interviews.

In a letter dated August 12, 2026, Olajengbesi’s lawyer, Hammed Lasisi, demanded the immediate retraction of statements allegedly made by Fadahunsi during interviews on Viable TV on July 2 and Channels Television’s Politics Today on August 11.

According to the lawyer, Fadahunsi had accused Olajengbesi of sponsoring thugs and members of the Eiye and Aye cult groups.

The letter stated, “During the said interview, you launched a direct attack on the identity, character and reputation of our Client by stating, among other things, that our Client was ‘not even from the same Ijebu-Jesha’ and was ‘from somewhere in Ogun State.’ You further accused him of ‘using thugs, Eiye and Aye.’”

The lawyer further alleged that Fadahunsi, during the August 11 interview on Politics Today, said, “Rogba is an Eiye man sponsored by Barr. Olajengbesi terrorising the whole … my own territory up and down through all these Eiye and Aye.”

Olajengbesi denied the allegations and described them as false, defamatory and injurious to his reputation.

“The allegation of sponsoring cultists and persons engaged in acts of terror is particularly serious, as it imputes criminality and conduct wholly incompatible with our Client’s standing as a legal practitioner, public figure and candidate for elective office,” the lawyer stated.

Olajengbesi also denied ever sponsoring, financing, supporting or patronising any cult group or its members for criminal or political activities.

He demanded that Fadahunsi retract the alleged defamatory statements through the same media platforms on which they were made and publish an “unequivocal and unreserved public apology.”

Recall that the Osun State Government also dragged the Inspector-General of Police and the Commissioner of Police in the state before the High Court, seeking an order compelling them to investigate Fadahunsi over alleged inciting remarks ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.

The Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Osun State, Oluwole Jimi-Bada (SAN), filed the suit marked HOS/M.157/26 at the High Court of Justice, Osogbo Judicial Division, on August 12, 2026. Fadahunsi was also joined as a person affected/interested party.
