FC Nordsjaelland football director Alexander Riget believes Ghana midfielder Caleb Yirenkyi is ready to make the leap to one of Europe’s top five leagues after an impressive season for club and country.

The 21-year-old has emerged as one of the Danish Superliga’s brightest talents following a breakthrough campaign in which he made 30 appearances, scoring two goals and providing six assists from midfield.

Yirenkyi has also enhanced his growing reputation with impressive displays for Ghana at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

He scored the decisive goal in the Black Stars’ opening group-stage victory over Panama before featuring in subsequent matches against England, Croatia and Colombia.

Speaking on the Transferguru podcast, Riget revealed that FC Nordsjaelland are open to the possibility of selling the midfielder during the current transfer window, describing him as one of the standout performers in the Danish top flight.

According to the club executive, Yirenkyi’s heavy workload over the course of the season has resulted in some signs of fatigue, but it has done little to diminish the belief that he is ready for the next stage of his career.

“Caleb is about to have played a lot of games, and we have made some plans with him, so it could well be a summer sale because he has established himself as one of the best midfielders in the Super League, although I would say that he has looked a little tired towards the end,” he said.

Riget also dismissed the idea that Yirenkyi needs a stepping-stone move to continue his development, insisting the Ghana international has the quality and maturity to move directly to one of Europe’s elite competitions.

“He is extremely mature. We have agreed that he does not need an intermediate step in a Dutch sub-top club or the bottom of the Bundesliga. He is ready, we think, to move directly to a top-five league and also a bit higher,” Riget added.

Yirenkyi’s performances have reportedly attracted interest from several leading European clubs, with Real Madrid, Arsenal, Brighton and FC Porto said to be monitoring the Ghanaian’s progress ahead of a potential summer transfer.
