Brandon Thomas-Asante targets Premier League success after Coventry City’s promotion

Ghana international Brandon Thomas-Asante has declared his ambition to make a significant impact in the Premier League after helping Coventry City secure promotion by winning the 2025/26 English Championship.
The 27-year-old played a pivotal role in Coventry’s successful campaign, contributing 13 goals and four assists in 32 league appearances as the Sky Blues earned a return to England’s top flight.
Speaking to ESPN, Thomas-Asante reflected on the journey to achieving one of his long-held career ambitions, describing the milestone as the reward for years of hard work, perseverance and unwavering self-belief.
“They say that sometimes it takes a long time for things to happen overnight,” he said.
“It’s definitely a case of holding out and holding out, pushing, pushing. I’m grateful to God that the breakthrough has happened — to be in the Premier League now, which is where I’ve always wanted to be, and believed I could be.”
While promotion marks a major achievement, the Ghana forward insists merely playing in the Premier League is not enough, stressing his desire to compete at the highest level and challenge for honours.
“The intention is not just to be in the Premier League,” he continued. “It’s to be top of the Premier League and to be the best.”
Thomas-Asante also believes his recent experiences on the international stage have strengthened his confidence as he prepares for the next chapter of his career.
“But I already have the opportunity to do that now, because I get to be on the pitch at the World Cup. I want to prove that I belong at the top of world football.”
The striker also represented Ghana at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, featuring in two matches and providing one assist as the Black Stars competed in the global tournament.
Having fulfilled his dream of reaching the Premier League, Thomas-Asante will now be eager to carry his impressive Championship form into England’s elite division while continuing to establish himself as a key player for both Coventry City and the Black Stars.
