Bisola Aiyeola Shares Painful Lesson On Inheriting Friends’ Beefs
Popular Nollywood actress and media personality Bisola Aiyeola has opened up about a costly lesson she learned from taking sides in conflicts that didn’t involve her.
Speaking on the Dear Ife podcast, she admitted that she used to automatically adopt the fights of her friends, family, and even colleagues without bothering to hear the other side of the story.
She, however, revealed that her perspective shifted after a painful experience where she inherited someone’s fight, only for them to later reconcile with the other party, leaving her as the outsider.
According to her, the experience has made her more selective about which battles to fight. However, she made it clear that while she doesn’t expect others to inherit her conflicts, she would cut ties with any friend who bonds with her ex-fiancé or dates someone she has a serious issue with.
She said:
“I have been in a situation where I have taken a fight that are not mine. I do inherit my friends’ beef to an extent. I have done that before. Not just for people who are my best friends but also for acquaintances and colleagues. I did it even without hearing from the other person.
“But I have also been in a situation where I inherited someone’s fight and then they eventually settled and I became the outsider. So, I told myself it’s not everybody’s fight and beef that I would inherit.
“I don’t expect people to inherit my beef but if I have an ex-fiance and my best friend decides to bond with him, we are not friends. I have cut ties with men who were dating and quarrelling with my best friends.”
