Bayern Munich’s chief executive Jan-Christian Dreesen has stopped short of guaranteeing that Michael Olise has a long-term future at the Bavarian giants, choosing his words carefully when pressed on the winger’s situation beyond next summer.

Dreesen suggested that offering firm assurances in football carries its own risks, essentially cautioning against locking the club into a position that circumstances might later complicate.

His comments point to a boardroom that prefers to keep its options open rather than commit publicly to a player’s long-term standing, however well that player may be performing.

On the specific question of whether Bayern can retain Olise permanently, the CEO indicated that any definitive conversation on the matter would take place closer to the middle of next year, effectively pushing the decision down the road rather than settling it now.

Olise has been a key attacking presence for Bayern since his move from Crystal Palace, and his form has understandably fuelled talk about his long-term future at the club.
