Nollywood filmmaker Uduak Isong has advised new actors to be realistic about their fees, warning that pricing themselves too high could hurt their careers.

In a post on her Instagram page, she expressed surprise at the exorbitant fees some upcoming actors demanded when she reached out to them.

Isong noted that while everyone has the right to set their own price, the industry is unforgiving, and those who price themselves out of the market may struggle to find opportunities.

She wrote:
“We reached out to some new actors and I couldn’t believe the fees they were asking for. Wawu.. While everyone has the right to put whatever price tag they have on themselves, I’d advise that we apply common sense. This industry is very unforgiving. You price yourself out of the market, you’ll struggle to get back in.”

Uduak Isong’s latest comment is a direct address to critics of Nollywood, who have slammed filmmakers for refusing to feature ‘new faces’ in their movies.
