A family in Akure, Ondo State, has been thrown into mourning following the tragic discovery of three siblings whose bodies were found near a stream on a farm around the Owena Army Barracks area, identified as 11-year-old twins, Joshua and Jacob Jonah, and their five-year-old sister, Blessing Jonah.

The tragedy unfolded after the three young children accompanied their father, Samuel Jonah , to his farm on a Friday . Seeking to return home ahead of him, the siblings set out on the paths from the agricultural land on their own. However, severe worry and concern spread through the household when the father later made it back to their residence and discovered that none of the children had actually arrived.

Fearing the worst, the father immediately raised an alarm, which quickly mobilized an intensive search operation across the vicinity. Family members, neighbours, and other deeply concerned residents combed through the farm, surrounding thick bushes, and adjoining pathways in hopes of finding them safe. Regrettably, the exhaustive search ended in absolute heartbreak the following morning, Saturday, when the lifeless bodies of the three siblings were discovered abandoned near the bank of a small river situated directly within the farm boundaries.

The devastating outcome has completely shattered the family, plunging the parents and relatives into deep, agonizing grief. As news of the horrific loss spread through the area, a continuous stream of sympathisers, friends, and community members began trooping to the parents’ residence in the Oke Ogba area of Akure. They have packed the compound to offer their condolences, standing in solidarity with the heartbroken couple during this unimaginably difficult time.

The Ondo State Police Command has officially confirmed the tragic incident, with its spokesperson, DSP Jimoh Abayomi , announcing that a comprehensive investigation has commenced. The authorities are actively working to determine the exact circumstances and underlying causes surrounding the sudden deaths of the three young siblings.

According to the official police statement, the command confirmed the heartbreaking loss of the children at a farm located around the Owena Army Barracks area in Akure on September 4, 2026 . The victims have been formally identified as 11-year-old twins, Joshua and Jacob Jonah, alongside their younger sister, five-year-old Blessing Jonah, all of whom had initially accompanied their father, Samuel Jonah, to the agricultural land.

The spokesperson explained that the children later left the farm site on their own to head back home. However, panic set in when their father eventually returned to the family residence later that day and realized that none of his children had arrived, sparking immediate fears for their safety.

In response to the alarming report, a search operation was instantly launched by relatives and community members, which ultimately led to the grim discovery the following day. DSP Abayomi stated that on September 5, 2026 , the search parties located the lifeless bodies of the three siblings positioned around the bank of a small river flowing right within the farm.

The police spokesperson disclosed that the remains had been released to the family for burial, while efforts were ongoing to establish the exact cause of death.
