AY Makun Calls Out Social Media For Rushing To Judgment Before Hearing Both Sides
Popular Nigerian comedian and actor Ayo Makun, better known as AY, has criticized what he described as the “social media court of injustice,” where public opinion often rushes to judgment without hearing the full story.
In a post on his X handle (formerly Twitter), he expressed his frustration with the tendency of online users to form conclusions based on one-sided narratives.
AY noted that the platform has always favoured the first story shared, often overlooking the need for balance. However, he observed that recent trends suggest a gradual shift toward recognising that there are always two sides to every story.
He wrote:
“The social media court of injustice has always favoured the first-served narrative, often rushing to immediate judgment before the other side is even heard. I look forward to the day when social media fully embraces one simple truth: there are always two sides to every story. Interestingly, with some of the recent trends online, it feels like we’re gradually getting there.”
