ASTRC Commends Soludo for Proposed Befitting Secretariat, Royal Village, Annual Retreat for Traditional Rulers

The Anambra State Traditional Rulers’ Council ASTRC has commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for the promise to provide a befitting secretariat, allocate land for the Proposed Royal Village and fund annual retreats for Ndi- Igwe Anambra State.

The commendation was contained in a communique dated 14th July, 2026 and signed by ASTRC Chairman, Igwe Chidubem Iweka Eze Iweka III and the ASTRC Secretary-general, Igwe Surv. Charles Agbala Igwe Oranyelu III made available to newsmen after their quarterly meeting at Light house Awka.

It reads partly: “The Council was informed by the Chairman of the approval of Mr. Governor to be hosting and funding of annual retreat/seminar for Ndi- Igwe Anambra State starting from this year 2026.

“The seminars will provide a veritable platform for learning and interaction of traditional Rulers on areas of conflict resolution, ASTRC code of conduct, rural administration of justice, internal security networking and vigilante engineering, etc.

“The Council thanked the Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo for his promise of providing a befitting secretariat of Ndi- Igwe at the Light house as previous secretariat that was under construction will be taken over by the proposed Solution Silicon valley of the state.

“The Council after viewing the architectural presentation video of the proposed Royal Village for the traditional Rulers of Anambra State agreed that the design was adequate and acceptable.

“The Council therefore ordered for the detailed drawing to be commenced as well as the project costing and consequently directed the committee on the raising of the required funds through public private partnership PPP to expedite action pending the allocation of the land by the government.

“It is believed that when the Council is comfortably accommodated , the prayers of the traditional rulers will engender more peaceful and rapid development milestone in the state.

Moreover, ASTRC rejoiced and congratulated Governor Chukwuma Soludo of remarkable victory/ Supreme Court judgement that dissolved the existence of all forms of autonomous communities in Anambra State saying it will bring about cohesion, peace and development in the affected communities.

The Council also commended Mr. Governor for the systematic and transparent way he resolved the Obiship of Eze Uzu Awka kingdom by constituting a high powered committee and issued a white paper on the matter based on the committee’s recommendation.
