Group Chairman of the McDan Group of Companies, Dr Daniel McKorley, popularly known as McDan, has urged people to overcome the discomfort and embarrassment associated with asking for help.

He said seeking assistance should not be viewed as an admission of failure but as an important skill that can contribute to personal growth and success.

According to him, people should seek advice when they lack the knowledge or experience to handle a situation instead of waiting until their challenges become difficult to manage.

“We all need help sometimes. But a lot of us do not know how to ask, can’t ask, or do not want to ask. We find it uncomfortable and embarrassing, and often times, we feel like asking for help is an admission of failure. But it isn’t; it’s an important skill, and mastering it is critical for our personal growth,” he wrote in a social media post on Thursday, August 27.

Dr McKorley said successful people often rely on the support of family, friends and professional networks to achieve their goals.

He urged people to make use of the knowledge and experience of those around them rather than taking on every task alone.

“Nobody can help you if you do not want to be helped,” he added.

Dr McKorley also encouraged people to focus on producing quality work rather than simply taking on more responsibilities, stressing that seeking assistance could help reduce unnecessary stress.
