Alexis Sánchez has secured a new chapter in his long and distinguished football career after joining Major League Soccer side CF Montréal as a free agent.

The Canadian club confirmed the signing on Tuesday, announcing that the experienced Chilean forward has agreed to remain with the team through the 2027 Sprint Season, with an option extending into the 2027-28 campaign. His arrival will also see him occupy a Designated Player position on Montréal’s roster.

Sánchez expressed his excitement about the move, describing it as an opportunity to embrace a fresh challenge.

The veteran attacker also thanked the club for placing their trust in him and said he was looking forward to using his experience to help the team achieve its ambitions.

The transfer marks another stage in a career that has taken Sánchez across several major football leagues. He began his professional journey in Chile, featuring for Cobreloa, Colo-Colo and River Plate before making the move to Europe.

Over an 18-year European career, the forward played for several high-profile clubs. His impressive résumé includes spells with Udinese and Inter Milan in Italy, Barcelona and Sevilla in Spain, Marseille in France, as well as Arsenal and Manchester United in England.

Sánchez most recently represented Sevilla before becoming a free agent. At CF Montréal, the veteran will bring considerable experience and international pedigree as the club looks to strengthen its attacking options.
