38 Year Old Baba Sadiq appointed Ghana High Commissioner to Nigeria in Fresh Diplomatic Push

President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Baba Sadiq Abdulai Abu as Ghana’s High Commissioner designate to the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The announcement came on March 1, 2026, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and was warmly shared by Foreign Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa on social media.
Baba Sadiq, aged 38, brings a dynamic background to the role. He is the founder of Strong Tower Media (also known in connection with 3Media Networks), a key player in Ghana’s entertainment and creative industries. His work helped shape events like the 3Music Awards and supported urban music and media growth in the country. He also ran as the National Democratic Congress parliamentary candidate for Okaikwei Central in the 2024 elections.
The appointment follows the recall of the previous High Commissioner, Baba Jamal Mohammed Ahmed, who stepped aside to contest a by election in Ayawaso East. Many see this move as a fresh step to inject youthful energy and creative insight into diplomacy, especially in relations with Nigeria, Africa’s largest economy and a vital partner for trade, culture, and regional cooperation under the African Continental Free Trade Area.
Foreign Minister Ablakwa congratulated Baba Sadiq personally, expressing confidence that he would proudly represent Ghana and inspire young people across the continent. Public reactions poured in quickly on social media, with supporters praising the choice for blending entertainment expertise with diplomatic service. Comments highlighted expectations that his background could boost cultural exchanges, including stronger ties in music, film, and creative arts between Ghana and Nigeria’s vibrant Nollywood and music scenes.
This decision reflects President Mahama’s focus on youth empowerment and strategic appointments to strengthen bilateral bonds. As High Commissioner designate, Baba Sadiq is set to advance Ghana’s interests in Abuja, fostering deeper economic, diplomatic, and people to people connections between the two West African neighbors. Congratulations continue to flow in, marking an exciting new chapter for both the appointee and Ghana Nigeria relations.
