Black Satellites head coach Maxwell Konadu says his team is determined to bounce back with a win when they take on Burkina Faso in the ongoing WAFU B U-20 Championship.

Ghana will face their West African neighbours in their second Group B fixture today at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire, with victory crucial to keeping their qualification hopes alive.

The Black Satellites started their campaign on a disappointing note after suffering a 4-2 defeat to Nigeria in their opening game on Monday. However, Konadu insists his players are eager to respond positively against Burkina Faso while maintaining their composure.

“We are anxious to win the game, but that shouldn’t lead us to throw everything away. We have to manage the game depending on how it unfolds. Obviously, we have to be more aggressive because we want to carry the day,” he said.

The former Asante Kotoko coach also addressed the defensive lapses that contributed to Ghana’s defeat against Nigeria, including conceding a penalty, revealing that the technical team has worked with the players to correct those mistakes.

“We’ve spoken to the players and done some work, which we’ll finish today before the Burkina game. Giving away a penalty is never easy for a defender because they’re also doing a job for the team.

“We’ve discussed what to do and what not to do in certain areas of the pitch. Hopefully, tomorrow they won’t repeat those mistakes,” Konadu added.

Ghana will be aiming to secure all three points when the game kicks off at 18:00 GMT.
