Nigerian teenager Zadok Yohanna has taken another important step in his young football career after making his Brighton & Hove Albion debut during their 3-0 pre-season victory over AS Roma.

The 19-year-old winger came on as a substitute at the American Express Stadium on Saturday, marking his first appearance since joining the Premier League side from Swedish club AIK.

Yohanna completed his move to Brighton during the summer and signed a contract that will keep him at the club until June 2031.

Although the transfer fee was not disclosed, the move represents a significant opportunity for the young Nigerian to develop at one of England’s top-flight clubs.

Before moving to England, Yohanna had established himself within AIK’s senior team.

Brighton stated that he made 18 appearances for the Swedish club, scoring five goals and registering four assists.

His impressive progress began in Nigeria at the Ikon Allah Football Academy before he moved to Sweden in 2025.

He subsequently progressed into AIK’s first-team setup and caught Brighton’s attention with his performances.

Against Roma, Brighton produced a comfortable display, with Georginio Rutter opening the scoring in the 29th minute.

Yasin Ayari then found the net twice, scoring once before half-time and again after the restart to complete the 3-0 victory.

For Yohanna, his brief appearance represents the beginning of a new chapter.

With Premier League football ahead of him, the teenager will hope to continue improving and earn more opportunities as Brighton prepare for the new campaign.
