By accepting the role of Lead Champion for the “Make Africa Borderless Now!” campaign, Jonah is putting his immense international reputation on the line to demand the immediate ratification of the African Union’s Free Movement Protocol.

The initiative, spearheaded by the Africa Prosperity Network, is not merely asking for policy tweaks but is instead launching a massive public offensive to gather 10 million signatures. This mandate will be delivered directly to African Heads of State at the 40th African Union Summit in 2027, effectively stripping away the excuses of regional inertia. Jonah described the current fragmented state of the continent as a lingering cost of colonial-era barriers that continue to sabotage the daily lives and prosperity of Africans.

While the African Continental Free Trade Area promises a unified market, the reality remains starkly different. Since the Free Movement Protocol was adopted in 2018, only four nations have ratified the agreement, falling embarrassingly short of the 15 required to bring it into force. Jonah views this stagnation as a betrayal of the Pan-African vision once championed by Kwame Nkrumah, asserting that the time for rhetoric has expired.

As the Executive Chairman of Jonah Capital, Sir Sam Jonah intends to use his moral authority to pressure regional blocs like ECOWAS and the East African Community to lead by example. The campaign marks a decisive shift from polite diplomatic requests to a people-driven mobilization designed to make the dream of a borderless Africa an unavoidable political reality.
