Award-winning Ghanaian musicians Shatta Wale and Medikal have partnered with the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) to promote locally manufactured gold jewellery and support the country’s gold value‑addition agenda.

The collaboration follows a courtesy call by the two artistes on GoldBod Chief Executive Officer Sammy Gyamfi, during which they discussed ways to leverage their influence to market Ghanaian-made jewellery to both local and international audiences.

The initiative was announced in a social media post shared on Friday, July 10, a day after the meeting between the musicians and the GoldBod CEO.

“As part of the collaboration, the artistes pledged to proudly showcase and promote locally crafted gold jewellery through their music, public appearances, social media platforms, and international engagements—including ShattaFest UK—highlighting the quality and craftsmanship of Ghanaian-made products to a global audience,” the statement read.

According to the statement, the partnership forms part of broader efforts to encourage value addition in Ghana’s gold industry while creating greater demand for locally produced jewellery.

GoldBod believes the collaboration with two of Ghana’s biggest music stars will help expand the market for Ghanaian jewellery and increase international recognition for locally crafted products.

“Together, GoldBod and Ghana’s creative industry are proving that when we promote Made‑in‑Ghana products, we create jobs, add value to our natural resources, and build a stronger national economy,” it noted.

Sammy Gyamfi described the partnership as an important step toward strengthening Ghana’s jewellery industry, creating sustainable employment opportunities, and positioning the country as Africa’s leading hub for gold value addition.
