By Oluwarantimi Oludase

Nigerian streamer Habeeb Hamzat, popularly known as Peller, has recounted his experience in police detention, revealing that he went without food and water for most of the four days he spent in custody.

The Tiktoker was arrested on Friday in the Lekki area of Lagos following a confrontation with police officers over a tinted vehicle without a number plate.

Upon regaining his freedom, Peller took to Snapchat to share details of his ordeal. He stated that he was unable to bathe throughout his stay and that fellow inmates recognized him, jokingly calling him “001.” He also expressed concern about his upcoming wedding plans, noting that he intends to relocate after the ceremony.

According to the viral video of the streamer’s arrest, he accused the officers of harassment, claiming they pulled his shirt and pointed a gun at his head before taking him into custody.

Peller was arraigned on Tuesday alongside a co-defendant on three counts, including obstruction of police officers and conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace. He was subsequently granted ₦500,000 bail by a Lagos Magistrates’ Court, bringing an end to his four-day detention.

He wrote:
“I am ugly now, I can’t show my face yet. Omo, I slept in cell for almost four days. It has never happened to me before in my life o.”

“I no chop for four good days, I no bath.”
“Nah my wedding dey my mind. Nah to dey waka jeje after wedding japa.”
