The two surveillance aircraft acquired by the Oyo State Government to boost intelligence gathering and aerial security operations have arrived in Ibadan. Commissioner for Information, Dotun Oyelade, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, noting that their arrival fulfilled the government’s earlier pledge to take delivery before the end of July.

Oyelade said the government had announced the acquisition on July 8, 2025, as part of measures to strengthen the operational capacity of security agencies in tackling emerging security challenges across the state. He added that Governor Seyi Makinde had on July 18, 2026, revealed that the aircraft were already in the country and undergoing.

He noted that the government subsequently assured residents that the aircraft would arrive in the state before the end of July, a promise that has now been fulfilled.

The commissioner said the surveillance aircraft would enhance intelligence gathering and provide aerial support for security operations, particularly for the Oyo State Security Network Agency, codenamed Amotekun, and other security agencies combating criminal activities across the state.

He added that Governor Makinde was at the airport to receive the aircraft on their arrival. The acquisition forms part of the state government’s broader strategy to deploy technology-driven solutions to improve security and safeguard lives and property across Oyo State.
