Eze Iweke III Announces Activities Preceding Obiora, Ito- Ogbo Obosi Cultural festivals

Reintroduces Ite- Umatu Eze Obosi cultural festival

The Chairman, Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council ASTRC, Igwe Chidubem Iweka, Eze Iweke III of Obosi Ukwalla ancient kingdom has performed the Royal Announcement for the upcoming tripartite cultural festivals of Obosi people.

The Royal Announcement which was made on July 17, 2026 at his palace Obosi marks the official commencement of activities Preceding the Ite Umatu Eze Obosi, Obiora and Ito-Ogbo Obosi festivals with the announcement of the organizing committee members.

According to Eze Iweke III, We have three cultural festivals to celebrate in the near future. The first is Obiora Obosi 2026 which will hold on October 24, 2026. A time to celebrate the New yam, peace and unity.

Secondly, there is an age long festival called Ite – Umatu which has not been celebrated in the recent past but Ite Umatu Eze Obosi would be re- introduced this year and celebrated for the first time since I ascended the throne as Eze Iweke III of Obosi. It will hold on 30th August, 2026.

Thirdly, our prestigious Ito- Ogbo Obosi which holds every three years will hold on March 27, 2027. It is a time to celebrate longevity and honor all indigenes/age grade who are up to 80 years of age.

For the records, Obosi community has up to 15 different cultural festivals which we celebrate to promote and preserve our customs and traditions.

The 15 member committee that will spare head the activities of the Obiora Obosi 2026/ Ito-Ogbo Obosi 2027 include Chairman – Nze Kenneth Ifeatu Obi, Vice Chairman – Dr Kene Igboebisi, General Secretary – Nze Igwebuike Shedrach okenwa, Coordinator Media & Publicity – Nze Elvis Umegbolu, Assistant Coordinator Media & Publicity – Mr Jibike Ben.

Others are Coordinators for Entertainment, Hon. Mrs Nche Egwu, Dr. Dubby Oguegbu, Lady Phina Onwuachu, Coordinator Traditional Affairs – Onyeka Molokwu, PRO – Mrs Ebele Osakwe,

Members include Mr Uche Chuke, Ndubuisi Nwokeabia, Chief Emeka Asimonye Dikedioramma, Advisers are Chief Osita Chidoka Ike Obosi and Chief Collins Anibogwu Iyasele Obosi, Grand Patron – Chief Emeka Anyoku Adazie Obosi, General Supervisor – Eze Obosi.

Contributing the General Secretary of the Obiora Obosi 2026/ Ito- Ogbo Obosi 2027 Nze Igwebuike Okenwa and Chief Okey Mgbemena Uzzi Obosi described Ite Umatu Eze Obosi festival as a celebration to thank God for the good harvest of crops like maize, cocoa yam, cassava, and other aerable crops that satisfy human appetite other than yam.

Highlight of the occasion was the courtesy visit paid by the new AIG police in charge of Zone 13 Ukpo, AIG Godwin Iguh Eze and his team who promised to partner with traditional Rulers in the fight against insecurity and insubordination in Anambra State and environs.
