Terrorists Kill Police Officer, Two Others In Sokoto Community

Terrorists suspected to belong to Lakurawa terror group have reportedly killed a police officer, an elderly man and a young herder in a deadly attack on a community in Kebbe council area in Sokoto State.

The attackers burnt security vehicles, rustled cattle and also assaulted a married woman who resisted an attempted sexual attack.

It was learnt that the attack occurred on Monday afternoon, leaving residents devastated and further concerns over the worsening insecurity in vulnerable communities in Kebbe councily.

Confirming the development on Tuesday, security analyst Bakatsine, citing local sources, disclosed that the armed militants carried out a series of coordinated attacks that claimed multiple lives and destroyed public property.

According to him, the attackers killed a police officer identified as Hussaini Manyu during the assault.

The terrorists also reportedly murdered an elderly man, Bala Wakili, while a young herder was killed after allegedly refusing to surrender his cattle to the gunmen.

A farmer was also reportedly shot while working on his farm during the attack.

In addition to the killings, the assailants reportedly set ablaze a Police Hilux patrol vehicle and a Community Guard Hilux vehicle, significantly damaging local security assets.

The attackers also rustled an unspecified number of cattle before fleeing the area.

Local sources further alleged that the terrorists beat a married woman after she resisted an attempted sexual assault during the invasion.

The latest attack has sparked fresh outrage over the deteriorating security situation in affected communities, with residents lamenting the recurring violence and the apparent inability of authorities to protect lives and property.
