The family of late Nollywood actress Temitope Osoba has raised concerns over false and unverified reports circulating about her death.

In an official statement shared on her Instagram page on Thursday, the family urged the public to disregard speculative narratives.

The statement, signed by the family, described the claims as false and unauthorized, adding that they add to the pain the family is already enduring.

Additionally, they also asked the public and media to rely only on official communications from authorized representatives.

The statement read:
“On behalf of the family and loved ones of Temitope Osoba, we are deeply saddened by the spread of false and unverified reports concerning the passing of our beloved.

At this difficult time, we wish to categorically state that the numerous claims circulating on social media and various blogs regarding the circumstances surrounding her death are false, speculative, and entirely unauthorized. We respectfully urge the public to refrain from sharing or promoting misinformation that only adds to the pain our family is already enduring.

We kindly ask that everyone allow us the dignity, privacy, and time to grieve without the burden of unfounded rumors and sensational narratives.

Should there be any information the family wishes to make public, it will be communicated through our official channels and by authorized representatives only. We ask the public and members of the media to rely solely on those official statements and to disregard all unverified reports.

We sincerely appreciate the prayers, love, and support that have been extended to our family during this heartbreaking time.

Thank you for respecting her memory and our family’s privacy.

Signed,
The Family of Awonuga/Osoba.”
Temitope Osoba first revealed her breast cancer diagnosis in late 2024 after discovering a lump during a self-examination. Initially, doctors assured her nothing was wrong, attributing the lump to her childbearing age. However, when the lump grew larger, further tests confirmed it was breast cancer.

She underwent her first surgery in November 2024, but doctors recommended a second procedure to remove remaining cancer cells, with the total treatment cost estimated at N12 million.

Her colleague, Foluke Daramola, helped amplify her appeal for financial support, and donations came in to fund the initial procedure. By August 2025, Osoba announced she had overcome the disease, returning to acting and expressing gratitude for the support she received. She had been placed on radiation therapy and was declared cancer-free after follow-up scans showed the cancer had not spread.

The Nigerian Voice recalls that the death of Temitope Osoba was made public on Tuesday evening by her colleague, Alesh Ola Sanni on Instagram.

Osoba’s death has sparked an outpouring of grief from fans and colleagues across social media.
