Team Ghana has unveiled two exceptional athletes to carry the nation’s highest ceremonial honours at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, reflecting Ghana’s commitment to youth empowerment, inclusion and sporting excellence under the renewed national agenda to position sports as a catalyst for unity and national development.

Para Powerlifting star Tahiru Haruna has been named Ghana’s King’s Baton Bearer, becoming a symbol of resilience, determination and the growing recognition of Para sport within Ghana’s sporting landscape.

His selection underscores the nation’s commitment to equal opportunity, ensuring that athletes with disabilities continue to stand proudly at the forefront of Ghana’s international sporting journey.

Joining him is 17-year-old judo sensation Frema Agyei, who has been chosen as Team Ghana’s Flag Bearer.
