Founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo, has criticised the proposed amendment to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Act seeking to retain a N50,000 fine for preaching in commercial buses, urging the Federal Government to focus on tackling Nigeria’s worsening insecurity instead.

Oyedepo made the remarks during a sermon at Faith Tabernacle, Canaanland, Ota, Ogun State, in a video that went viral on Monday.

The cleric questioned the government’s priorities, saying the persistent killings across the country deserved greater attention than regulating religious preaching in commercial vehicles.

“You mean they kill people every day and government is pretending not to know what to do?” Oyedepo said.

“I have not heard any statement from government quarters against the killings. I’m yet to hear one, sir. Our human life is not of value anymore? And now you mustn’t preach in the bus, is that an issue?”

He declared that he would continue to pray against those behind the country’s insecurity rather than seek blessings for them.

“Woe to all destructive agents in Nigeria. Whether in power or out of power, judgement has finally come,” he said.

“You can’t slaughter members of my family and want me to pray for you. I pray against you, against your household, against your generation, in the name of Jesus.”

The bishop alleged that those perpetrating violent attacks across the country were being sponsored and pronounced what he described as divine judgment on their backers.

“Everybody knows that these wicked people are being sponsored. Anyone who doesn’t know that, that’s a problem,” he said.

“Every sponsor of killers in Nigeria, you come under a curse today.”

Oyedepo, who said he had remained silent on the issue for a long time, expressed confidence that divine justice would soon catch up with those responsible for the bloodshed.

“When you see God keep quiet at the wickedness of the wicked, it’s because the bubble is about to burst,” he said.

“As the Lord lives… this bubble will burst. Go and hide anywhere. The bubble will burst.”

His comments come amid controversy over the FRSC Act (Amendment) Bill, 2026, which provides for a N50,000 fine for preaching in commercial buses. While the proposal has sparked criticism from some Nigerians, the Senate has maintained that the provision has existed since the FRSC Establishment Act of 2007 and is aimed at promoting the safety of commuters and other road users rather than restricting religious activities.
