Rooney Backs Arsenal Youngster For Man United Move

By Okiki Oluwasegun

Wayne Rooney has warned Manchester United against depending too heavily on Luke Shaw, arguing that the club needs additional defensive and midfield options before the new season gathers pace.

The former United captain believes Shaw’s injury record makes it difficult for the club to assume that the England international will remain available throughout an entire campaign.

While Rooney acknowledged that Shaw performed well last season, he feels United still need greater depth on the left side of defence.

Rooney has therefore identified Arsenal youngster Myles Lewis-Skelly as a potential solution. The teenager’s ability to operate at left-back and in midfield makes him an attractive option, particularly for a United side that needs greater versatility across the squad.

The recommendation comes as manager Michael Carrick continues to push for further additions before the transfer window closes.

Carrick has openly admitted that United are still looking for reinforcements and wants the club to strengthen wherever possible.

United are hoping to improve on their recent struggles and compete more strongly in the upcoming campaign.

Adding players capable of filling multiple positions could give Carrick greater tactical flexibility while reducing the pressure on key individuals.

Rooney believes Lewis-Skelly’s age, versatility and long-term potential make him a worthwhile investment. For United, however, securing another player may depend on negotiations and whether Arsenal are willing to consider a deal for one of their promising young talents.
