Veteran Nollywood icon Richard Mofe‑Damijo (RMD) has issued a powerful call to men across Nigeria: end the abuse, respect women, and reject violence in all forms.

Speaking in Abuja after joining the Male Feminists Network, RMD said no man has any justification for using violence to “correct” or “control” a woman.

He urged men to embrace dialogue instead of aggression.

“Treat women with respect and dignity. Don’t objectify them and don’t beat them. It is better to talk to people than to use your fists,” he said.

RMD stressed that the fight against Gender‑Based Violence (GBV) is not a women‑only battle. He said men must step up, speak out, and actively support efforts to protect women’s rights.

He also pushed for greater inclusion of women in leadership, especially in government, noting that women have consistently proven their ability to deliver results when given the opportunity.

At the same event, gender advocate Dr. Otive Igbuzor called on traditional rulers, religious leaders and other influential figures to use their platforms to condemn abuse and promote respect for women. He said their voices can significantly reduce GBV in communities.
