Belgian club Cercle Brugge have completed the signing of Nigerian-born defender Tayo Adaramola from Premier League side Crystal Palace, giving the young left-back an opportunity to continue his development in European football.

The 22-year-old has committed his future to the Belgian club until 2030. His move represents a return to Belgian football, where he previously gained experience during a loan spell with RWD Molenbeek in the second half of the 2023/24 season.

Adaramola began his football journey with St Kevin’s Boys and St Mochta’s before attracting the attention of Crystal Palace. He joined the English club’s academy in 2015 and progressed through its youth system.

Although born in Dublin, Adaramola has Nigerian heritage through his Yoruba parents. His international career has so far been with the Republic of Ireland, for whom he has represented various youth teams before earning senior recognition.

The defender has already made one appearance for Ireland’s senior national team, meaning his international future has been linked with the European country despite his Nigerian roots.

His arrival at Cercle Brugge could provide the player with an important platform to secure consistent first-team football and further develop his abilities.

At 22, Adaramola remains at an age where regular competitive action could be crucial to his progress.

Cercle Brugge will also hope that his experience from the Crystal Palace academy and previous Belgian loan spell can strengthen their defensive options.

The long-term contract indicates the club’s confidence in Adaramola’s potential as he begins another chapter of his professional career in Belgium.
