The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) is set for a change in leadership on Friday as its outgoing Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, will formally hand over the affairs of the examination body to his successor, Prof. Segun Aina.

JAMB announced that the handover ceremony will take place on Friday, July 31, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., marking the end of Oloyede’s tenure and the commencement of Aina’s administration.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the board invited members of the public to follow the event through a live broadcast on its official social media platforms.

“Join us for the live broadcast of the official handover ceremony as Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, the outgoing Registrar of JAMB, formally hands over to Prof. Segun Aina,” the notice stated.

The transition comes after President Bola Tinubu approved Aina’s appointment as the new Registrar of JAMB to succeed Oloyede, whose tenure officially expires on July 31.

The appointment was earlier announced by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, who described Aina as a distinguished Professor of Computer Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.

According to the Presidency, the incoming registrar possesses extensive expertise in digital infrastructure, national examination systems and institutional reforms.

Aina earned a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Computer Systems Engineering from the University of Kent, United Kingdom, before obtaining a Master’s degree in Internet Computing and Network Security and a PhD in Digital Signal Processing from Loughborough University. He also completed the Senior Management Programme at Lagos Business School.

The Presidency said the new JAMB chief has spent more than 15 years advising federal and state governments on digital transformation, systems design and institutional reforms.

He has also worked with key examination bodies, including the National Examinations Council (NECO) and the National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB), where he provided consultancy services on ICT systems and examination integrity.

Describing him as one of Nigeria’s youngest professors of Computer Engineering, the Presidency noted that Aina would become the youngest Registrar in JAMB’s history.

President Tinubu expressed confidence that the incoming registrar would sustain and deepen the reforms initiated under Oloyede’s administration while strengthening the board’s operations and the integrity of Nigeria’s public examination system.
