Melcom Confirms No Casualties as Massive Tema Free Zones Warehouse Fire Disrupts Operations
Melcom Limited has confirmed that no injuries or casualties were recorded after a huge fire tore through one of its warehouse facilities at the Tema Free Zones Enclave.
In a statement issued on Sunday, July 5, the company said the blaze had significantly affected its operations, but assured customers that measures were already being rolled out to restore activities with minimal disruption.
“Although this incident has heavily impacted us, we are committed to restore the operations with minimal interruptions and will do our best to ensure availability of stocks to continue to serve our esteemed customers,” the statement noted.
Melcom stressed that the safety of employees, business partners and surrounding communities remains its top priority, adding that the absence of casualties was a major relief.
The company also expressed gratitude to the Ghana National Fire Service, NADMO, the Ghana Police Service, emergency responders and all agencies that worked tirelessly to contain the inferno.
Management says it is collaborating with relevant authorities to determine the cause of the fire, while an internal assessment is underway to establish the extent of damage to the facility.
It added that steps are being taken to secure the affected warehouse and support the restoration of operations, including efforts to ensure continuous availability of stock for customers.
The fire, which swept through the warehouse on Saturday, triggered a large-scale response from the Ghana National Fire Service, which deployed multiple fire engines to bring the situation under control.
