K.K. Fosu Declares 2028 Bid; Dares Sammy Awuku in Akuapem North Showdown

Highlife musician K.K. Fosu has officially announced his intention to contest the Akuapem North parliamentary seat as an independent candidate in the 2028 general election, setting the stage for a direct challenge to incumbent MP Sammy Awuku.
The artiste, who had initially planned to enter politics ahead of the 2024 elections but paused his ambition after a motor accident, says he is now fully prepared to return to the political arena.
Speaking on Asempa Showbiz with Adu Kumi, K.K. Fosu expressed strong confidence in his chances, insisting that neither Sammy Awuku’s political stature nor the backing of a major political party would stop him from winning the seat.
“If Sammy Awuku likes, he should leave the NPP and come to meet me face-to-face. I am going as an independent candidate,” he declared.
According to him, he is ready to face the incumbent in 2028 regardless of whether Awuku contests on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) or decides to run independently.
K.K. Fosu argued that party affiliation would not determine the outcome of the election, stressing that voters would choose the candidate they trust to represent their interests.
Explaining his confidence, he claimed that the NPP would not have the influence to sway the constituency, bluntly stating that the “party is dead.”
His latest declaration marks a renewed push into politics after his earlier ambitions were halted by the accident that forced him to withdraw from the 2024 race.
