I Don’t Want My Kids To Do Music – Davido Explains
Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido has opened up about his stance on his children pursuing music careers, admitting that he is hesitant to support them despite his second daughter, Hailey, already showing interest.
In an interview with Vibe, he acknowledged that she has a good voice and behaves just like him, but his own struggles in the industry make him wary.
Davido noted that while he doesn’t want his children to go through what he experienced, he also doesn’t want to block them from chasing their dreams, just as his family eventually allowed him to pursue his. He admitted that if they are good, he wouldn’t stand in their way.
He said:
“I don’t want any of my children to pursue music. My second daughter is already leaning towards music. She is the life of the party. She behaves just like me. She actually has a good voice.”
“But I know what I went through. Can you go through what I go through? Knowing what I have been through.”
“But because my parents and my family eventually allowed me chase me dreams, I would never want to block any of my children from chasing their dreams. And if they are good, why not?”
