Hamburg have struck an agreement with OGC Nice for the transfer of Nigerian striker Terem Moffi, according to French outlet Nice-Matin, which reports that the Ligue 1 side has accepted the Bundesliga club’s proposal, though the financial details of the deal remain undisclosed.

The German outfit had been monitoring the 27-year-old for weeks as part of their efforts to bolster their attacking department ahead of the new season.

With the transfer fee now settled between the two clubs, attention shifts to finalizing personal terms with the player himself before the move can be officially completed.

Moffi’s immediate football history includes a loan spell at Portuguese champions FC Porto during the second half of last season, where his output was modest, netting just once in nine league outings.

That loan arrangement ultimately did not convert into a permanent transfer, largely because Porto were unwilling to meet Nice’s valuation of €8million for the striker.

The Nigerian forward’s Nice career began in January 2023, initially as a loan arrangement from Ligue 1 rivals Lorient, before the switch was converted into a permanent deal that summer.

However, his time at the club took a troubling turn last season when he and several teammates became targets of supporter aggression, attacked upon disembarking the team bus following a 3-1 defeat away at his former club, Lorient, in November.

The incident forced Moffi into a week-long period of sick leave before his eventual loan exit to Porto. Despite the turbulence, his overall contribution to Nice remains notable, having scored 24 goals across 72 appearances in all competitions during his time with the club.
