No fewer than 30 people, including women and children, have been killed in a fresh attack on Naridon Village in Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, deepening concerns over the worsening security crisis in Southern Kaduna.

The attack, which occurred on Sunday night, also left several homes destroyed by fire, forcing residents into mourning as survivors searched through the ruins for missing relatives and belongings.

Community sources, Ibrahim John and Mallam Katuka, confirmed the incident, saying the assailants stormed the village and unleashed violence that claimed dozens of lives.

Residents said at least 30 bodies had been recovered from the community as of Monday, warning that the death toll could rise as search and recovery operations continued in the affected area.

Photographs from the village showed extensive destruction, with multiple residential buildings burnt to the ground during the assault.

The exact number of those injured or displaced had yet to be established at the time of filing this report, as authorities continued to assess the scale of the attack.

The latest killings have intensified fears over the deteriorating security situation in Kauru Local Government Area, where communities have repeatedly come under attacks by armed groups in recent months.

Following the incident, residents and community leaders appealed to the Kaduna State Government, the Federal Government and security agencies to deploy additional security personnel to the area and strengthen measures to prevent further attacks.

The attack is the latest in a series of violent incidents and kidnappings that have continued to plague communities across Southern Kaduna, despite repeated calls for improved security.
