Ghana and Belarus have finalized a roadmap for agricultural cooperation aimed at strengthening food security

Ghana and Belarus have finalized a new roadmap for agricultural cooperation. This agreement focuses on boosting food security and modernizing farming practices in Ghana.
The plan includes upgrading the poultry industry to increase local production and efficiency. It also features the establishment of a modern dairy processing factory. This facility will help process milk into products like milk powder. Belarus plans to export dairy items and poultry meat to Ghana. In return, opportunities exist for Ghana to supply cocoa beans and other fruits.
A key element involves setting up twelve mechanization and irrigation centers across Ghana. These hubs will provide access to advanced machinery, tractors, and irrigation technology. The goal is to improve productivity, support crop storage, and adapt equipment to local conditions.
The cooperation builds on recent high-level talks during Belarusian Foreign Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov’s visit to Accra. Discussions with Ghanaian officials, including the Deputy Minister for Food and Agriculture, emphasized practical steps toward self-sufficiency in agriculture.
This partnership aligns with Ghana’s broader efforts to expand mechanized farming. It promises technology transfer, knowledge exchange, and mutual trade benefits for both nations.
