Former Falconets winger Flourish Chioma Sabastine has secured the next chapter of her career after completing a move to Portuguese women’s champions Benfica.

The talented Nigerian attacker has signed a three-year contract with the Lisbon-based club, with Benfica retaining the option to extend the agreement by an additional year.

The move comes after Sabastine became a free agent following the expiration of her contract with Turkish giants Fenerbahçe at the end of the 2025/26 season.

At just 21 years old, Sabastine already boasts an impressive football résumé. Before joining Benfica, she gained valuable experience in Europe with spells at French side Stade Reims and Turkish clubs Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe, establishing herself as one of Nigeria’s promising young exports.

Known for her pace, creativity and versatility in attack, Sabastine first rose to prominence with Bayelsa Queens in the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL).

During her time with the club, she played a key role in their domestic success, helping the team lift three league titles before making the move abroad.

On the international stage, Sabastine has represented Nigeria with distinction at youth level. She featured for the Falconets at both the 2022 and 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cups, where her energetic displays further enhanced her reputation as one of the country’s brightest attacking talents.

Her arrival is expected to strengthen Benfica’s squad as the Portuguese champions prepare to defend their domestic titles and compete in European competitions.

The club will hope her speed, technical ability and attacking flair add another dimension to their frontline.

For Sabastine, the transfer represents another significant milestone in a career that continues to move upward, offering her a fresh opportunity to develop further at one of Portugal’s top women’s football clubs.
