FIFA has rejected reports suggesting that a process is underway to remove Gianni Infantino from his position as president of the world football governing body.

The organisation issued a statement on Saturday night amid growing reports of pressure on Infantino following controversy surrounding an alleged attempt to sell stakes in the World Cup to investors.

FIFA described the situation as an organised effort aimed at weakening the leadership of the organisation and its president.

The governing body maintained that Infantino remains in office with the mandate given to him by FIFA’s member associations.

According to FIFA, any attempt to challenge the president must follow the organisation’s established statutes, democratic procedures and governance rules.

It warned against using allegations or speculation as a substitute for the formal processes available within the football body.

The organisation also disputed some recent reports, describing certain claims concerning Infantino and FIFA as unsubstantiated or inaccurate.

It argued that repeated allegations do not automatically make them factual.

FIFA further defended Infantino’s record in football, pointing to his long involvement in the sport and his contribution to expanding opportunities and resources across different parts of the world.

The governing body said it remains open to legitimate scrutiny but insisted that inaccurate information should not be used to create distractions or damage the organisation.

FIFA added that its priority remains serving its 211 member associations and continuing efforts to develop football globally.

The organisation said it would remain focused on its responsibilities despite the controversy surrounding its president.
