Ebonyi Journalists Narrowly Escape Mob Attack by Thugs Loyal to Friday Agbom

Suspected political thugs have attacked journalists in Idembia, Ezza South Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

The journalists were attacked while driving into a road to cover a program organized by Chief Ifeanyi Nworie.

Nworie invited the attacked journalists for the event.

The journalists were attending the event with their official vehicle marked” Correspondent Chapel of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) when the thugs led by one Mr Friday Agbom attacked them.

The thugs badly hit the vehicle in attempt to gain entrance into it and were looking for fuel to set it ablaze when the driver of the vehicle maneuvered them and escaped.

At the time of this report, more than 50 thugs were still at the entrance of the event venue the journalists were supposed to attend.

The thugs were wearing t-shirts bearing pictures of a lawmaker.

Meanwhile, the thugs descended on a man who was passing on the road when they were attacking the journalists and beat him up till he fell inside the bush.

The event was billed to hold on a village square by the roadside in the community when suspected political thugs stormed the place and disrupted it.

The organizer decided to shift the event to his compound. But the thugs went to the road leading to his place and barricaded, and started attacking those coming for the event through the road.

Over 20 armed policemen were seen within the playground the program was billed to hold.
