Kira Taiwo, a daughter of late veteran Yoruba actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has shared an emotional exchange she had with her father weeks before his death.

Kira posted the conversation on her Instagram Story on Monday, a day after the 66-year-old actor died following a battle with cancer.

The exchange, dated July 26, showed Ogogo reassuring his daughter and encouraging her to remain strong despite his deteriorating health.

In the conversation, the actor expressed concern after reportedly hearing that Kira had been crying, telling her that seeing her and her sisters happy gave him strength.

He wrote, “How are you? I heard you are crying. Seeing you and your sisters smile is making me strong. If you cry, it will make me sad, and I will start to think.”

Ogogo, who was a Muslim, also urged his daughter to put her faith in Allah and remain hopeful about his condition.

“Be strong. I am strong. Nothing is going to happen to me, insha Allah. If you do, then don’t cry, my princess,” he added.

Kira, in her response, reassured her father that she was not crying and reaffirmed her faith in God.

“Daddy, I’m not crying oo… don’t mind Haleemah. I trust in Allah, sir. I love you very much,” she said.

Ogogo replied simply, “Love u too, my princess.”

The exchange has drawn attention to the actor’s final weeks as his family battled to secure further medical treatment for him after his condition reportedly worsened.

The family had earlier revealed that Ogogo was suffering from stage-four cancer and appealed to the public for assistance.

His daughters, Kira and Lima Taiwo, separately shared emotional appeals on social media as the actor’s health deteriorated.

Lima disclosed that the family only became aware of the severity of his condition about three weeks before his death, noting that his physical appearance had not initially indicated the seriousness of the illness.

Kira also revealed that Ogogo’s cancer had reached stage four and that the hospital treating him could no longer administer chemotherapy, prompting the family to explore alternative treatment options.

The actor died at about 3pm on Sunday, according to a burial announcement made by veteran actor Jide Kosoko.

Ogogo is scheduled to be buried in his hometown, Ilaro, Ogun State, on Monday, according to Islamic rites.

A lying-in-state ceremony is scheduled for 11am at the Pavilion in Ilaro, while the Ilaro Muslim Community announced that the funeral prayer will take place at 10am at the Asade Agunloye Pavilion Ground.

Ogogo was one of the prominent figures in the Yoruba movie industry, with a career spanning several decades as an actor, filmmaker and director. His death has sparked an outpouring of tributes from colleagues, fans and prominent Nigerians.
