Liverpool have given the go-ahead for Curtis Jones to leave the club, with the midfielder poised to complete a move to Inter Milan in a transfer worth around £30 million. His departure brings an end to a 16-year association with the club he joined as a boy.

The move is expected to be finalized within days, with Jones already cleared to undergo his medical at Serie A giants Inter.

Personal terms are said to be largely sorted, and transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has indicated the fee sits close to €35 million.

Jones trained with the squad at the AXA Training Centre on Wednesday but had already been left out of Liverpool’s last two pre-season fixtures against Monaco and Como, fueling expectations that his exit was imminent.

At 25 and entering the final year of his contract, Jones was facing an increasingly uncertain path to regular first-team football under manager Andoni Iraola.

With Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch set to operate alongside Florian Wirtz in central midfield, opportunities for Jones looked limited heading into the new campaign.

Liverpool are not expected to bring in a direct replacement, instead placing faith in academy graduate Trey Nyoni, who impressed during pre-season.

The club’s transfer focus for the remainder of the window is understood to be centered on strengthening their attacking options, with Paris Saint-Germain forward Bradley Barcola identified as their primary target.
