Chelsea set £120m deadline for Enzo Fernandez transfer

By Okiki Oluwasegun

Chelsea have reportedly put a firm price tag and deadline on Enzo Fernandez as uncertainty continues over the midfielder’s future at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues are demanding £120 million for the Argentina international and have given interested clubs until Friday at 5pm to meet their valuation.

Manchester City are currently among the clubs showing interest in the 25-year-old, with their pursuit reportedly growing stronger in recent days.

City manager Enzo Maresca is believed to be keen on reuniting with Fernandez, having previously worked with the midfielder during his time in charge of Chelsea.

The potential move could also become important for City if Rodri leaves the club for Barcelona.

Fernandez reportedly informed Chelsea in May that he wanted to depart this summer. Real Madrid were initially considered leading contenders for his signature, but the Spanish giants have since indicated that they will not make a move during the current transfer window.

Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso is understood to want Fernandez’s situation resolved before the start of the new Premier League campaign.

Should no club meet the £120 million valuation by the deadline, Fernandez could remain at Chelsea and feature in their opening league fixture against Fulham on August 24.

Fernandez enjoyed one of his strongest spells under Maresca, recording 11 goals and eight assists in 54 Premier League appearances during the Italian’s tenure.
