Chelsea produced a strong second-half display to beat Real Sociedad 3-1 in their pre-season friendly at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

Morgan Rogers opened the scoring for Chelsea in the 11th minute, giving the hosts an early advantage. Real Sociedad responded just before the break, with Jon Aramburu finding the net in the 45th minute to send both sides into half-time level at 1-1.

Chelsea regained control shortly after the restart when João Pedro struck in the 47th minute, putting the London club back in front.

The Brazilian forward then completed his brace in the 77th minute, sealing a comfortable victory for the Blues.

Chelsea made several substitutions during the second half as manager Enzo Maresca used the encounter to assess different options ahead of the new campaign.

Enzo Fernández, Cole Palmer, Moisés Caicedo, Jorrel Hato and Jamie Gittens were among those introduced as the hosts managed their squad.

The statistics reflected Chelsea’s attacking approach. The Blues enjoyed 60 per cent possession and registered 15 shots, including two big chances. Real Sociedad had 16 attempts but failed to create a clear-cut big chance.

The result gives Chelsea an encouraging finish to their preparations, while João Pedro’s two-goal performance will provide another positive talking point before competitive action begins.

Chelsea will now turn their attention to the start of the new season after ending their friendly campaign with a convincing 3-1 victory.
