Car dealer shot dead outside residence at Beach Drive Estate near Tuba

A car dealer has been shot dead outside his residence at Beach Drive Estate near Tuba in the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region.
The deceased, identified as Kwasi Rahman, was reportedly returning from an evening walk with his wife when an unidentified gunman opened fire on them at the entrance to their home.
The attack occurred at about 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 6, and claimed the life of Mr Rahman, who had celebrated his 50th birthday in July this year.
Residents said the incident has left the community in shock and heightened concerns over security within the estate.
A resident who witnessed the aftermath told Citi News that a loud gunshot drew people out of their homes.
“I was outside around 9:50 when I heard what sounded like a gunshot. So I quickly went inside and told my mum that I had heard gunshots. When we came out, we saw people coming from down there. When I came out, I saw him lying in front of his gate. I didn’t see anybody and I didn’t hear any noise. It was just the gunshot I heard,” the resident recounted.
The killing has renewed calls from residents for tighter security measures in the area.
A relative of the deceased appealed to the police to conduct a comprehensive investigation and ensure the perpetrator is brought to justice.
“If the person who killed him is caught, they are supposed to be sentenced and even put in jail because he has to feel the pain of what he caused,” she said.
She also criticised the security arrangements at the estate, claiming personnel stationed at the checkpoints had failed to provide adequate protection for residents.
“The security is not tight. The security here is not tight, and any person they employ at the security checkpoint, most of them are drunkards. This is not the first time. Recently, they shot a certain boy in front of this gate, at the entrance. So the security here is not tight,” she alleged.
The relative further expressed concern that the shooting occurred relatively early in the evening, at a time when the neighbourhood is usually calm.
Police are yet to officially comment on the incident, while investigations are expected to establish the circumstances surrounding the killing and identify those responsible.
