Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council member Nana Oduro Sarfo has expressed confidence in the future of the Black Stars, insisting the national team has the potential to achieve greater success if given enough time to develop.

His remarks come after Ghana’s campaign at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America, where the Black Stars exited the tournament in the Round of 32 following a narrow 1-0 defeat to Colombia.

Although the team’s journey ended in the knockout stage, Oduro Sarfo believes the current crop of players has the talent to build a stronger and more competitive side in the years ahead.

Speaking in an interview with Asempa FM, he urged Ghanaians to remain patient as the team continues its rebuilding process.

“If given the time, I believe we will get there because we have young players who can do better going forward,” he said.

Ghana opened their World Cup campaign with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Panama before holding England to a goalless draw.

A defeat to Croatia in their final Group L match saw the Black Stars finish as one of the tournament’s best third-placed teams, earning a place in the Round of 32.

The team’s focus has now shifted to the qualification campaign for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, which begins in September.

Drawn in Group C, Ghana will take on Gambia, Ivory Coast and Somalia as they seek to book a place at the continental tournament.
