Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso praised Mykhailo Mudryk after the Ukrainian winger made his long-awaited return to action in the Blues’ 1-0 pre-season defeat to Juventus in Hong Kong.

Although the result did not go Chelsea’s way, the evening was marked by the emotional comeback of a player who had been absent from competitive football for almost two years.

Mudryk entered the match in the closing stages, replacing Nicolas Jackson, and received a warm reception from both the supporters and his teammates.

Having recently been cleared to resume his career after successfully appealing a doping suspension, the winger’s appearance represented an important milestone in his journey back to professional football.
