Panic erupted in Ilesa area of Osun State after a 12-year-old boy was reportedly shot during a campaign of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Saturday morning.

The boy was reportedly sitting inside his mother’s shop when gunshots were fired during the campaign.

It was reported that the Chief Whip of the Osun State House of Assembly, Wale Akerele, was present alongside operatives of the Amotekun Corps when the incident occurred.

The eyewitness alleged that the Amotekun operatives and the lawmaker shot at APC members during the campaign, resulting in injuries to several people.

The 12-year-old boy was said to have been caught in the incident while sitting in his mother’s shop.

“Scores of APC members also sustained injuries,” the eyewitness said.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear as of the time of filing this report.

The incident has reportedly triggered protests in parts of Ilesa, with residents demanding an investigation into the alleged shooting of the minor. Also, the condition of the injured boy and the number of people affected could not be independently verified as of press time.
