Chelsea signs Ivory Coast forward Fofana
Chelsea announced on Saturday the signing of Ivorian forward David Datro Fofana from Norwegian club Molde. Fofana has signed a six-and-a-half year contract at Stamford Bridge, with the option of an additional year, and the transfer fee is reportedly between £8 million and £10 million.
In a statement on the club’s website, Fofana said, “I’m here, I’ve arrived well and I’m very happy to sign for the club of my dreams. I’ll see you soon on the pitch.” The 20-year-old forward has scored 24 goals and registered 10 assists in 65 games for Molde, and has recently made his first start for the Ivory Coast national team.
Chelsea, who are currently 10th in the Premier League, have also signed French defender Benoit Badiashile from Monaco for a reported fee of just under €40 million during the January transfer window.
