The Ghana Police Service has rescheduled the full implementation of its automated traffic law enforcement programme, TRAFFITECH-GH, from October 1 to November 1.

The Service said the decision was taken to allow for extensive public awareness and education on the programme before its full rollout.

In a press release issued on Tuesday, September 29, the law enforcement agency noted that the education will cover how the system operates, the traffic offences it will detect and the Electronic Notices of Violation (ENV) that will be issued to motorists who breach traffic regulations.

“The rescheduling is to allow for a extensive public awareness and education on the programme, including its operations, the traffic offences to be detected, the Electronic Notices of Violation (ENV) to be issued to offending motorists,” it read in part.

The Police Service said TRAFFITECH-GH forms part of efforts to address indiscipline on Ghana’s roads and improve compliance with road traffic laws and regulations.

The Service urged motorists, drivers and vehicle owners to use the additional month to familiarise themselves with the programme ahead of the new rollout date.

“The Ghana Police Service, therefore, urges motorists, drivers and vehicle owners to take advantage of the additional period to familiarise themselves with the programme ahead of the roll out,” the statement urged.

The automated traffic law enforcement programme is expected to support efforts to improve road safety and strengthen enforcement of traffic regulations.
