President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Lagos after concluding his working vacation in Europe, with the President expected to begin a series of engagements ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Tinubu arrived at the presidential wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, on Tuesday, where he was received by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and other dignitaries.

His arrival was confirmed by the Special Assistant to the President on Social Media, Olusegun Dada, who posted on X, “Landing. Welcome home Mr President!”

Tinubu departed Abuja on August 30 and initially spent one week in London before proceeding to Paris, France, where he continued his working vacation.

According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President travelled from Paris to Lagos to commence engagements with political stakeholders and associates.

“While in Lagos, President Tinubu will also hold strategic meetings with political leaders and associates over several days in preparation for the 2027 elections,” the statement said.

The Presidency said Tinubu’s decision to make Lagos his first destination after leaving France was also linked to plans to honour the memory of the late Chief MKO Abiola, who won the June 12, 1993 presidential election and became a prominent symbol of Nigeria’s democratic struggle.

As part of activities marking Independence Day on October 1, Tinubu is expected to attend the premiere of a movie celebrating Abiola’s life and legacy.

The event is scheduled to take place at the Wole Soyinka National Theatre in Iganmu, Lagos.
