Stonebwoy demands Charterhouse release the buried 2019 Ghana Music Awards.

Seven years after a chaotic confrontation between Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale brought the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards to a standstill, the mystery of the missing trophy is back in the spotlight. The Burniton Music Group has officially petitioned the event organizers, Charterhouse, to finally declare who actually won the 2019 Artiste of the Year title.
The demand for transparency comes directly from Stonebwoy’s Head of Communications, Vida Adutwumwaa Boateng, who argues that the public deserves closure. During a recent broadcast on Onua FM, Boateng emphasized that fans invested their hard-earned money into voting that year, and withholding the results remains a disservice to the audience.
The 2019 ceremony is infamously remembered for a stage security breach that led to both Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale being slapped with a one-year suspension. While the industry moved on and Stonebwoy has since reclaimed the Artiste of the Year crown in subsequent years, his team insists that official records must be corrected for historical accuracy.
As the 2026 Telecel Ghana Music Awards approach, the pressure is mounting on Charterhouse to address this lingering controversy. With Stonebwoy currently facing off against heavyweights like Black Sherif and Sarkodie for this year’s top honors, his camp remains confident that the “Bhimmation” leader is still the man to beat in Ghana.
