La Liga president Javier Tebas has called for Manchester City to receive a severe punishment if the club is found to have breached Premier League financial regulations.

Reports have claimed that an independent panel ruled against City on 114 of the 115 charges brought by the Premier League.

However, the league has not officially announced the panel’s findings or confirmed any punishment for the English champions.

Manchester City have consistently denied the allegations. Club chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak also maintained that the club would ultimately be vindicated.

Tebas said football authorities must ensure that the same rules apply to every club. According to him, serious breaches should attract significant consequences to protect the integrity of the sport.

The La Liga chief has previously raised concerns about Manchester City’s financial practices, dating back to 2017.

He argued that any punishment should reflect the seriousness of the alleged violations if they are established.

Possible consequences reportedly include a points deduction or expulsion from the Premier League, while other clubs are considering whether they could seek compensation.

Tebas also questioned the Court of Arbitration for Sport’s decision to overturn a two-year European competition ban imposed on City by UEFA in 2020.

Manchester City’s rise has coincided with the ownership of Sheikh Mansour’s Abu Dhabi United Group, which took control of the club in 2008.

Since then, City have won eight Premier League titles, the Champions League and several other major trophies.
